I recently set out to create a playful tribute to Susan Kare, the designer behind the iconic icons and interface of the original Macintosh. Her work shaped the way millions of people first experienced computers, blending clarity with personality in a way that still feels fresh today.
To bring this idea to life, I turned to Framer’s codeless design platform. Framer made it possible to simulate the look and feel of the 1984 Mac OS using drag interactions, component variants, overlays, and a bit of creative tinkering—all without touching a line of code. It was the perfect playground for building something both fun and functional.
The result is a site that reimagines the classic Macintosh environment for modern browsers, while celebrating Susan Kare’s pioneering influence on UI design. It’s equal parts nostalgia trip and design experiment, and I hope it sparks the same appreciation for her work that inspired me to make it.
